Following a dominating win over Marshall, the Penn State Nittany Lions move on to game 2 against the Temple Owls on the road. How does the staff see this one playing out?

If there was one issue in the first game against Marshall, it was a lack of explosiveness in the run game. I expect that Matt Campbell will be harping on that this week, and will try to get Quinton Martin and Cam Wallace involved on the ground a little bit earlier. It would be nice for the passing game to put up a similar performance, but really I just want to see that Koby Howard, Chase Sowell, and Brett Eskildsen weren’t just one-game wonders.
Penn State comes out early and gets a lead, this time leading off with a touchdown drive capped off by a rushing TD, and generally builds upon the foundation that was laid in week 1.

It is hard to imagine Penn State playing a more complete and more clean game than they did against Marshall in Week One. I’ll expect some miscues on Saturday against the over-matched Owls. That’s probably a good thing to get out before conference play starts at the end of the month. Here’s hoping the running game gets going earlier – and I’ll predict James People to break a long run.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since the last time these teams played. That was a seven-point home win for Penn State against what turned out to be a very solid Temple team. Those days are long gone for the Owls, however.
I won’t overthink this one. Penn State will win easily. There will be some mistakes that we did not see against Marshall, but I see the Lions taking control early. I would love to see Quinton Martin in the game before halftime this week. The defense should take advantage of a banged up Temple offense. It should be a fun afternoon for the Penn State fans making the trip to Philly.

I was tempted to predict a closer game since things almost seemed to go too well in the week over blowout over Marshall. However, I do not see an automatic drop off based on what we witnessed last week, even if it will be the first road game of the season. Penn State played such a clean game on both sides of the ball, which is particularly impressive when you consider there are 60 new faces on the roster. There were few mistakes or even missed opportunities. It’s apparent this is a disciplined team that plays hard and understands their roles.
I also don’t have much confidence in Temple providing much of a fight after needing most of the game to pull away from FCS Rhode Island. The Nittany Lions will show up for business, and have a similar output to week one where they pull ahead by halftime and get some reps for everyone down the depth chart.
