A gruesome discovery in Brooklyn has police investigating the death of a woman found inside a garbage can.
Law enforcement sources said the body was discovered around 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Sheepshead Bay near Belt Parkway and Knapp Street. Police were responding to a 911 call.
Investigators were still on scene early Thursday morning.
The NYPD said the city’s medical examiner will determine the woman’s cause of death. She has yet to be identified by authorities.
As of Thursday morning, there were no details known about who dumped the woman’s body and how long she had been left there.
