‘My son just shot himself!': 911 call reveals panic after boy, 4, shot in Pompano Beach

A new 911 call is revealing the frantic moments after a 4-year-old boy was critically injured in an apparent accidental shooting in Pompano Beach.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex near the 4000 block of Southwest 15th Street.

“My son just shot himself!” a woman believed to be the boy’s mother is heard screaming in the 911 call. “Oh my God! Oh my God!”

“Where is the weapon now?” the dispatcher asks.

“It’s in the house!” the mother responds.

Later in the call, the woman is heard asking where the closest hospital is as she eventually brought the boy to a nearby fire station.

“Is he ok?” she’s heard asking someone at the station.

Fire rescue crews treated the victim and transported him to a hospital for treatment.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said Friday that the 4-year-old was still in critical condition. His identity hasn’t been released.

Detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Violent Crimes Units are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, authorities said.
