
An 18-year-old man was found dead after officials said a submerged vehicle was recovered from a quarry in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
According to the Berks County Coroner’s Office, just before 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, the Berks County 911 Center received a call about a water emergency at the quarry on the 1000 block of Yerger Boulevard in Spring Township.
During the response, the coroner’s office said officials found a vehicle was submerged in the quarry with an 18-year-old man inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:38 a.m.
The coroner’s office said an autopsy for the man is scheduled for Monday at Reading Hospital.
The man has been positively identified, but the coroner’s office said his identity is being withheld to allow his family to grieve.
Due to the active and ongoing nature of this investigation, the coroner’s office said no additional
information will be released at this time.
