The wait for football is finally over.
NFL action returns this week with the annual Hall of Fame Game, which kicks off the preseason each summer.
The regular season is still over a month away, but seeing two teams on the field in uniform is the first step of football being back.
The Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals will face off in the 2026 Hall of Fame Game — making them the only NFL teams who will get four preseason contests this year. Starters typically don’t play much, if at all, in the Hall of Fame Game, but it’ll be the first look at some rookies and new Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur.

What is the NFL Hall of Fame Game?
The Hall of Fame Game has been held annually since 1962 and marks the start of the preseason.
The game doesn’t count toward either participant’s preseason record. Teams are chosen based on the connection they have with the incoming HOF class, which is enshrined during the weekend after the game.
