Police in Holbrook, Massachusetts, are seeking the public’s help identifying a vehicle of interest in a hit-and-run crash that injured a 15-year-old girl as she was walking home after school earlier this week.
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 10 North Shore Road. The teen was struck while walking from from a nearby bus stop. She was taken to a local hospital with injures that are believed to be non-life-threatening. There was no update on her condition Saturday.
Amid their ongoing investigation, Holbrook police obtained an image of a vehicle that may have been in the area around the time of the crash. Police are seeking to identify the vehicle and its owner or operator to determine whether they may have information that could assist the investigation.
The vehicle is believed to be an older-model, black BMW 3 Series sedan. Anyone who has information that could assist investigators is asked to contact Holbrook Police Detective Michael Szczesny at 781-767-1212.
NBC10 Boston spoke with the high school sophomore’s mother this week.
”It probably wasn’t intentional. But I’m sure they heard a noise,” Heather McDonnell said. “They should’ve stopped. It’s a child. You can’t hit a child — you can’t hit anyone and drive off.”
After getting dropped at her bus stop, police say the teenager was walking on the right side of the road when the vehicle hit her. She was thrown up onto the hood and into the woods, suffering a concussion, but fortunately no broken bones. She called her mother after the car drove away, and was only able to describe it as black.
“Imagine getting a phone call from your child when you’re expecting them to walk home and they’re crying on the phone saying, ‘mom, I just got hit by a car. I just got hit by a car.’”
The teenager is still recovering. She’s expected to be OK.
Meanwhile, the incident remains under investigation.
