A candlelight vigil is planned Thursday night at Liberty High School in Brentwood to remember two students killed in a car crash over the weekend.
Caden Kyle and Dominic Ferrari both died at the scene of the crash, which happened on Deer Valley Road near Balfour Road in Antioch.
Investigators said the teens were in a silver Infiniti that collided with a white BMW just after midnight Sunday morning.
A third student was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the BMW was also hospitalized.
It remains unclear what led to the crash.
Earlier this week, some of the teens’ closest friends gathered at the crash site, where they lit a candle and said prayers.
“It’s truly, like, really sad to think about some kids got their lives taken so young, when they were just about to start their life and be outside of high school,” Liberty High School student Hannah Jorstad told NBC Bay Area. “And I think that it truly affects us because it really shows us how fast our lives can go and how we really need to appreciate the people around us and be kind to the people around.”
Online fundraisers have been set up to support the families of Kyle and Ferrari, as well as the third teen who was critically injured.
The vigil is scheduled to take place at Liberty High School between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Thursday.
