Caltrans will close all northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 between Cesar Chavez and 17th streets in San Francisco beginning Friday night for work on the Hospital Curve rehabilitation project.
Starting at 11 p.m, the closure will be in effect through the weekend and is scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday. More closures are planned for Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 16-18.
Also at 11 p.m., Caltrans will close northbound Highway 101 lanes at the Harbor Bridge in San Rafael for a structural improvement project. The lanes are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday, with overnight closures continuing through Monday.
Detour information during Highway 101 closure in San Francisco
Interstate 280 will be the main alternative during the northbound Hwy. 101 closure. Caltrans said I‑280 northbound is suggested for travel toward downtown San Francisco or the Bay Bridge. Public transportation is also highly encouraged to bypass congestion and avoid work‑zone delays.
